Starting a Photography Business

Starting A Photography Business

You don’t know what you don’t know.

When I first started (and still am in the infancy of my photography business), I had no clue how to start or where to go or what to do. I started networking with other photographers and groups and going to conferences and watching webinars.  In person networking events and get togethers are by far my favorite. I found local groups on Meetup. And virtual events on the web. Anytime I run across a website that triggers inspiration, I save the article to my Evernote or sign up for an email list.

Now to the point of my post today. Improving your photography website search engine visibility, one needs to work on SEO, or search engine optimization. One way to do this is to get backlinks. Links from other [credible by Google standards] websites. It’s a very tedious process.

I was approached by a marketer/photographer by the name of Brendan, who created a guide… Start a Photography Business: The 2017 ‘How To’ Guide for Startup Photographers. He asked if I’d be willing to post a link to this from my website. And I am! I gave it a read through and it’s a great starter article.

“So many photography businesses fail because they they think mastery of photography will allow them to run a successful business.  I love that you point out that they’re two separate skills and both are needed.  I also love the idea of the ‘MVB.’ It’s so helpful for new photographers.” – Shane Cleminson of ShanyAbby.com

So… Go take a look at the guide. I encourage you to reach out to him with any questions or feedback. There is a comment section just below all the wonderful information.

Cheers!
